Jamie McMurray is denying any rumor that he will be leaving Roush/Fenway Racing at the end of this year. The Charlotte Observer, on Monday, reported that the driver of the #26 Irwin Tool Ford, was out at the end of the year and that he is currently looking for a ride for the 2009 season and beyond.
"There's no truth to the rumor." McMurray said, "I spoke to (Roush Fenway Racing president) Geoff Smith this morning. ... You never know what's going to happen, but as of today there's no truth to that."
After 2009 Jack Roush must downsize to a 4 car team, from the 5 car stable he currently has, because of a new rule imposed by NASCAR. With the sharing of materials and technical information between Roush/Fenway Racing and Yates Racing, there very well maybe a way around this new rule. McMurray can be behind the wheel of a Yates car, seeing that the relationship between Roush Racing and Yates Racing makes it almost like one large team. This is the only way that all 5 drivers can still be in Roush equipment.
