Steve Park Still On Track in Camping World Series

Former NASCAR Cup driver Steve Park is still getting it done on the track. Park is currently 3rd in the NASCAR Camping World point standings. He has 3 top 10's and is 85 points away from leader Auston Dillon.

Park, who raced in the #1 DEI Chevy in the NASCAR Cup series, was injured in a Busch Series crash in 2001, which left him with a brain injury. After that his career took a downward turn. Before his wreck he was on his way to a great Cup Series Career.

"Between getting hurt, coming back from getting hurt and winning again, and trying to get a name back for myself where people recognize that I can win races again, was something I worked towards," Park said. "Now I have to rework towards that."

"Really, it all started with Dale [Earnhardt] passing away. It was like my dad passing away. It took a toll on DEI, took a toll on myself, took a toll on all the race fans that were involved. It's been a downhill spiral since then. It's time to pull back on the rudder and come out of that tailspin."

With an 8th place finish on Sunday at South Boston Speedway in the #35 Waste Management Recycle America Chevrolet, he is starting to show some that he can still drive a race car, and do it with success. The next race the Camping World series will visit is Watkins Glen International on June 8th 2008. Park is no stranger to Victory Lane at the Glen he won his first race in the NASCAR WINSTON CUP Series in August of 2000.
